Paul Coldrick joins the Ball in Mind Team

Some careers fit into a single line. Paul Coldrick’s needs three: the player, the professional snooker player, the coach.

A multiple blackball world champion, a former professional snooker player, a coach educator for more than thirty years and today a national head coach: few people bring all three together.

We are delighted to welcome him into the Ball in Mind Team.

In blackball, Paul is a multiple world champion, in singles, in doubles and in the team event.

And he has lost none of his appetite for competition. Winner of the 2023 French Cup in blackball singles, he has also come out on top in several national Masters tournaments, including the 2022 TN6, won ahead of Christophe Lambert.

Two members of the Team meeting in a final: that too is what the French top level looks like.

Before blackball, there was snooker. Paul spent two years on the professional circuit.

Then, from the early 1990s, he moved to the other side of the table. He has been coaching for more than thirty years, in France and across Europe.

It is that double background that makes his eye so valuable: the player who has known the pressure of the circuit, and the teacher who knows how to break it down for others.

He gained his EBSA coaching qualification in 2021. The French Billiards Federation has also awarded him its national coach diplomas, in blackball as well as in snooker.

He is today the national head coach of the French snooker team, and is listed among the EBSA- and WPBSA-recognised coaches.

Developing players, building a squad, preparing for an international event: that has become his main ground.

Paul joins the Ball in Mind Team with a profile that belongs to him alone: a player who still wins, and a coach educator who builds the players of tomorrow.

The way he breaks down a stroke, explains an intention, and has it repeated until the movement becomes natural is exactly what we try to put into our training tools.

Understanding rather than enduring. It is the same idea, from one end to the other.
