Jimmy Carney joins the Ball in Mind Team

There are players you notice before they have even played a shot. Jimmy “Showman” Carney is one of them.

An English player of the very highest level and a respected coach, he has long experience of the game, in competition as much as in teaching.

We are delighted to welcome him as an ambassador and as a patron of Ball in Mind.

Runner-up in the 2012 blackball World Singles Championship, beaten in the final by Gavin Phillips, Jimmy has represented England on many occasions.

He has won the Nations Cup with the England Men’s A team, and took the National Singles Championship title in 2023.

He still competes today in the major British and international events.

But Jimmy is not only a competitor. He is also passionate about passing on what he knows.

A pool and snooker coach, he works with players of every level, drawing on playing and coaching experience gained around the world.

His coaching ranges from pure technique and cue ball control through to the psychology of the game. Understanding why a shot works, and why the mind gives way at the wrong moment.

Jimmy joins the Ball in Mind Team bringing both his experience as an international competitor and his eye as a coach.

His approach to training, built on understanding the game, precision and the repetition of well-chosen drills, matches our philosophy exactly.

The collaboration is already very concrete: the All Stars exercise range in the software draws directly on his training methods.
